We’ve gathered the questions clients ask us most often about proofreading, editing and fact checking and what it’s like to work with us. Think of this as a peek behind the curtain: how we manage quality, meet tight deadlines, and keep every document accurate, consistent, and human.
What are proofreading, editing and Fact checking?
Proofreading is the review of written materials and collateral to find and fix errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting and style. It is generally done on the final draft to catch anything that the writers, editors and managers of a project missed. Proofreading is the final quality check. Editing goes deeper than finding errors. It involves refining and polishing your text.
Who will do the proofreading?
Every document is reviewed by two people. A professional proofreader and an editor. Our team is made up of experienced, US-based native English speakers with backgrounds in publishing, journalism and media.
We use technology intelligently, but every decision is made by a human proofreader, ensuring your document gets the judgment AI can’t provide.
What document formats do you read?
We work with Microsoft Word using Track Changes, and with PDFs using Adobe Acrobat for markups. We can also review Google Docs, though we recommend exporting them to Word to prevent version loss.
Our goal is to make collaboration easy and transparent — no complicated uploads or proprietary tools.
Do you use AI proofreading tools?
We sometimes use AI tools to assist with routine checks, but never as a substitute for a trained human.
AI helps us work faster; our expertise ensures the result is accurate, nuanced and human. Every document we deliver is read, reviewed and approved by real people.
Will you reread the document to check we’ve made all the changes?
Yes. However, you will be charged for this service.
We have to give the same level of focus and attention to your material, regardless of how many times we proofread a document.
Do you judge the quality of the writing?
Never. We’re here to support busy professionals, not critique them.
Do you rewrite documents?
We refine, improve, correct, and polish — but we do not rewrite entire documents unless requested as an upgrade.
What is your turnaround time?
Most projects are completed within 24-48 hours, depending on the complexity. Tight deadline? We regularly accommodate next-day and weekend requests.
What do you charge?
We offer a standardized per-page pricing model.
Whether it’s a slide deck, proposal, RFP, calendar or report, we count pages the same way you do. Each page represents a unit of review: reading, markup, design check and quality assurance.
Some pages are word-heavy, others are PDFs that require more time-consuming markup, but it all balances out. We’ve found that a flat page rate keeps things simple, predictable, and fair for everyone. It also makes it easy for you to calculate the cost for your clients or boss.
We will always give you a firm, fixed quote before we start work on any project. There are no hidden fees.

What forms of English do you proofread?
We handle both American and British English and can apply your preferred spelling, punctuation and style conventions throughout your document.

Do you include fact checking when you proofread?
We will look up and validate anything we are concerned might be incorrect. We also flag inconsistent spellings of names (Cindy/Sindy), phone numbers that look wrong, acronyms that may be unclear to the intended audience and other information.
Can you work on documents about technical topics?
Yes — as long as the audience is business/general, not engineers or technical specialists.
Are my documents confidential?
Absolutely. Everything is secure, private and handled with care.
Can you proofread AI-written content?
Yes. We specialize in making AI-generated text sound natural, professional and human.
